Cinco Jotas Acorn-fed 100% shoulder ham is a rich and healthy product that forms part of the Mediterranean diet; our shoulder ham is from the front joint of pure Iberian pigs fed exclusively on acorns. Made from a selection of the best pure Iberian pigs, range-bred on the meadows of the Iberian Peninsula. The pigs receive exceptional care throughout their lives and are fed exclusively on acorns during the Montanera season. The acorns provide the animals with a high percentage of oleic acid which gives the loin ham features that have been scientifically proven as healthy. The Cinco Jotas loin ham helps reduce harmful cholesterol and is also rich in omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9.
To be kept: at home, in a cool and ventilated place until consumption. After being received, the product should be removed from the sachet and the brown paper protecting it. For carving, the necessary equipment is required: a ham holder, carving knife with a wide blade to clean the inside and outside of the piece, a long and flexible ham knife and a sharpener are the basic tools to fully enjoy each piece. It is very important to leave the cut clean and adequately protected to prevent oxidation. We therefore recommend covering the exposed area with thin slices of fat from the ham itself.
Consumption: To accompany this unique delicacy, we recommend combining it with any of our wines, but especially with our Osborne Quinta Dry Sherry, case of 6 bottles This combination enables the maximum flavour to be extracted from each product. When the shoulder blade begins to appear(the large flat bone found at the opposite end to the hoof), make a deep cut with small knife to separate the meat from the bone and facilitate slicing.
